Harlech Castle
A ship that left Melbourne for Newcastle with 23 aboard and vanished in a gale. She is recorded as lost about 60 nautical miles south of Cape Howe.
The story
The Harlech Castle was under Captain Davies. The record says a vessel resembling her was seen listing badly by the schooner Alcandre, and that the government steamer Pharos searched through Bass Strait without success.
Where the records differ:
Only the year of loss (1870) and a 26 June departure date are given. The date used for sorting is a placeholder.
Archive photographs for this wreck are being gathered and will be added here.
