Harry Leonard
A locally built bark stranded in Mallacoota Inlet in the year she was built. Her final fate is uncertain.
The story
The Harry Leonard was built on the Genoa River in 1885 by William Sturgeon and owned by L. Levy. She left Mallacoota for Melbourne and was stranded on 12 September 1885.
The Australian Shipping News of 23 October 1885 reported that all attempts to refloat her failed and that she was sold for 50 pounds after being abandoned.
Where the records differ:
Heritage Victoria notes other accounts suggesting she may have been refloated and returned to service, so her final fate is not settled.
Archive photographs for this wreck are being gathered and will be added here.
